Each year, in late June or early July, Lions club members from more than 100 countries come together for the Lions Interational Convention. For at least five days, Lions conduct association business, share fellowship and enjoy the sights of an international city.
Typically attended by nearly 20,000 Lions and their family members, the Lions International Convention is one of the largest annual gatherings of its kind in the world.
In 2003, the 86th International convention will be held in Denver Colorado from June 30th to July 4th. Let's start making plans now for sending at least two Belton Lions to this convention.

An American flag flying in front of every house and business in Belton on the five patriotic holidays is the goal of the Belton Lions Club. They hope to provide everyone with an opportunity to participate. |
The Belton Lions are now taking orders from Belton residents and businesses for a 3'x5' flag, with a metal pole and sleeve, to be installed in the customer's yard by club members. The flags are to be flown five times a year on September 11th, November 11th, Memorial Day, Flag Day and July 4th. The cost for a flag, flag pole and sleeve is $25 per year.
Here is how Oakwood Dr. in The Oaks looked on September 11, 2002

The city has been divided into sections with a leader in charge of each section. Plannners intend to knock on the door of every residence and ask families to participate. The flags will be put out in the morning and collected in the evening at dusk.
To order a flag, please call Dennis Holle at 939-9347 or The Belton Journal at 939-5754. To order by mail send a check for $25 made out to the Belton Lions Club to:
