Stonehenge
STONEHENGE as seen in southern England.
Stonehenge was built by unknown people of ancient England who finished building it some 2000 years before the Druids came to Salisbury Plain. Stonehenge means "hanging stones." There are many different legends. Some even say UFO's were involved. But the scientific evidence shows that it was probably an "observatory" to view the various stages of the moon and sun. Looking in Stonehenge Decoded by Gerald Hawkins reveals many of the stages in its pictures, such as showing the sunset exactly on the tip of the "heel stone." Thousands Gather at
Stonehenge for
Summer Solstice
> >>
LONDON (Reuters) - Thousands of druids,
revelers and the simply curious witnessed a cloud-obscured sunrise at Stonehenge
Monday during an annual pilgrimage to the site to celebrate the summer solstice,
the longest day of the year. Wiltshire police said 19,000 people converged on
the ancient circle of 20-ton stones on Salisbury Plain in southern England,
where they partied through the night until the sun rose over the Heel Stone just
before 0400 GMT.
> >>
A police spokesman said 11 people were arrested, mostly for minor drink and drug
offences.
> >>
Druids, a pagan religious order dating back to Celtic Britain, are drawn to
Stonehenge on the longest day of the year, about 160 km (100 miles) west of
London, because they believe the stones are a center of spiritualism.
> >>
Stripping away some of the mystery surrounding the site, British newspapers
reported Monday that archaeologists have unearthed 4,000-year-old skeletons of
men who helped transport the massive stones from west Wales.
> >>
"For the first time we have found the mortal remains of one of the families who
were almost certainly involved in this monumental task," said Andrew Fitzpatrick
of Wessex Archaeology.
> >>
The site is open to the public throughout the year but the solstice allows
revelers a rare opportunity to touch the massive stones and walk among them.
This year's crowd numbers were down from a record 28,000 who braved chilly
temperatures at the site last year. Scholars say the circle was built between
3000 and 1600 BCE as a temple, burial ground, astronomical calendar or for a
variety of spiritual and earthly purposes.
An article by appeared in the Wicca list in SpiritWeb, May 1999. For your consideration and comment:
The origins of Stonehenge ..........
Here's a condensed version of how the henge, ley lines, and crop circles are related.
Certain sacred stone sites were built many thousands of years ago. Modern mankind is
generally left to ponder their age, significance, who built them and how. One of the
things that connects all of these sites, including Stonehenge, the Great Pyramid, and many
obelisks, etc is that they were constructed on something called 'ley line vortexes'. While
the Earth has fluctuating magnetic lines of force, ley lines are virtually permanent. They
can be mapped like a grid (and they have been) and where they intersect are the vortexes.
Stonehenge was not only built on a ley line vortex, is was also exactly patterned on top
of a 'crop circle' that appeared there. In those days, these circles were called faery
rings, Moon/Sun/Earth rings, or the power rings of the Gods. In those days, all stone
circles originated from being layed over these rings. They appeared as the real ones
appear today - in the blink of an eye as if magickally manifested.
Stonehenge was built long before there were Druids. In fact, Stonehenge today has been
changed many times over the ages. It's also been moved from its original spot. The
big mystery is to discover where it was originally positioned. It's believed that it may
be very connected to discovering the ancient 'Merlin energy' including the red and white
dragon energy that lives in the ground. Some possibilities are The Badbury Rings,
Glastonbury Tor, and St. Michael's Mount.
A study of the make up of the original stones from the henge, coupled with the
electromagnetic lines of force in the ley lines, has lead some to speculate that
Stonehenge may have been a fantastic power source used for communications, manifestations,
energy applications, and other ancient sciences still being explored. Creating a global
grid map of all the sacred stone sites reveals that they are all connected, energy wise,
as if by one designer. Unfortunately, many of these sacred stone sites are now underwater
(and not yet found) or have been plowed under or built over.
Even tho Stonehenge is no longer positioned over the vortex, there is still power in the
stones. Has anyone been there? What did you experience? Some people have heard sounds,
while others have gotten the feeling of being displaced in time.
To unravel this mystery is to unravel the scientific, spiritual, and magickal mystery of
our ancestors.
Here are books of interest along with the following paraphrased comments:
Some books that can provide some very well researched
info into 'the big picture view' of how powerful magnetic ley lines were used - and
abused. I'd also like to mention, which you'll discover as you explore the topic, that
many Christian Churches have been built directly over the energy vortexes I wrote about.
This isn't a coincidence. The Christians made a concerted effort to destroy, absorb, and
transform many ancient beliefs into their own.
It's a very complex topic, but another example can be found in the date chosen for
Christmas (Christ's alleged birthday). Christ is akin to 'Light' and called the 'Son'.
Ancient Ones celebrated the 'light' (Sun) as well, both in nature and in their deities.
December 25 was also aligned with the winter solstice, an important natural sun/earth
event celebrated
by the olden. Son/Sun. Absorb and redirect.
I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who knows about other energy vortexes, besides
the ones I mentioned, where sacred stone structures have been built in alignment with
nature. Perhaps you know of some near where you live, but aren't necessarily well known
globally. If so, what are the ancient legends concerning the site and is anything still
standing there?
