scientists and inventors continued to come up with
amazing discoveries, theories, inventions, and ideas. 
All these brought us
closer to the computer age.
 

1780 BEN FRANKLINWe can't forget dear old Benjamin Franklin!  In 1780 he discovered electricity and, of course,  that pretty much changed the world.
1868

1868 is remembered by secretaries everywhere as the year the typewriter was invented.  I learned to type in 1968, coincidence? old typewriter.

1876

The U.S. Patent Office gave Alexander Graham Bell a patent for his new invention--the telephone in 1876 . Answer the phone!

1896 This was the year the Tabulating Machine Co., was started by the Herman Hollerith.  It is considered essentially the first computer company, the company would someday become International Business Machines (IBM).  Hollerith and tabulator
