Effie Inman was born and married Zack Carter in Ware Co., GA., but moved from Ware Co. to Berrien Co., then settled in Colquitt Co., GA,, and died there. Many Inman researchers have been looking for the parents, location, birth date, death date, children, etc. for decades. If anyone finds anything new, I would appreciate it. I personally think that Elisha descends from the Rhode Island Inmans. It is possible that he was an illegitimate child, and as was the custom in those days, taken his mother's name.

My Great grandfather was Nelson Inman, son to Edward. Nelson was a small child when his mother was killed, so he was sent to live with a William Jacobs in LaGrange, IN. He was born in Sandusky County Ohio in 1829. He was the youngest of 12 children. I have the name of one possible brother, William Inman. He claims to be of Scottish descent on the 1920 census. He settled in Athens, MI dying in 1922.

Elizabeth Inman and husband John Donley apparently lived in Davidson Co. (Nashville) TN. Donley was in business along the Natchez Trace, and this family line, at least, did not wander far afield. Granddaughter Margaret Donley m. John E. Welch, whose father Edward lived in the Tuscumbia, AL, area (along the Trace?), and they subsequently lived near Baldwyn, MS (near the Trace). Two of Eliz. Inman Donley's dtrs m. Choctaw Chief Greenwood LeFlore (whose father ran a "stand" on the Trace), and Eliz. was buried in the cemetery at "Malmaison," the LeFlore plantation in Carroll Co., MS.

Additional Family Information: I believe Rachel Jane Leavell (William Inman's wife) is buried in CA, but I have not been able to verify this. I think this because her husband, William Inman, died in Lakeside, San Diego, CA. I live pretty close to this area, and am trying to track this down. Ulysses Arthur Inman's nickname was "Art". I found this out from my dad recently. His wife, Margaret Jane Needham, died in a nursing home in Anahiem, CA abt. 1969 of diabetes.

We think that Rufus' father was Joseph Inman and that they lived in the Smithfield Rhode Island area. Rufus was born in Rhode Island and served in the Revolutionary War from 1780 to 1783 for a period of three years. (There have been at least three members of the DAR admitted under Rufus service.) He was married and lived in Rhode Island where his oldest children wer born. He then emigrated to Maine in the Corinth area where the rest of this children were born and where Mehetable died. He then married Ellizabeth Clark Mayhew who was the widow of Arad Powers Mayo (Mayhew). Arad Powers Mayo had emigrated from Cape Cod Massachusetts. Arnold Inman married Pomelia the daughter of Arad Powers and Elizabeth Mayo (Mayhew).
