My grandfather, Fred Leroy Inman, was an artisan who crafted hundreds of beautifully turned hardwood bowls and jars; each was dated and signed "F.L. Inman" in his ornate, calligraphic handwriting. He made and gave away so many that the immediate family came to view them as disposable. My collection, rescued from various family members, numbers about two dozen and is the largest I know about. If any Inmans out there have any "Flinmans," as we called them, I have a home for them.

Christopher Inman's parents were Robert Inman and Catherine Dawson, who were married in England in 1678. Robert Inman died 1695. His father was Michael Inman, who married Elizabeth Damebrook in 1655. Michael died 1690 at Bowthwaite, Yorkshire, England. Michael's father was Robert "Bold Robin" Inman, who died at Bowthwaite, Yorkshire, England. This Robert Inman's father was William Inman, b. 1614 at Bowthwaite. It would be interesting to see whether there is a connection between this William Inman (b. 1614 at Bowthwaite, and the other William Inman (c. 12 Sept 1563, St. Margaret's, Westminster, London--from whom I also descend. William Inman (b. 1614) would have been of the same generation as Edward Inman of Rhode Island (1620-1706).

John Inman of the 9th Generation was reportedly the son of William Inman, c. 12 Sept. 1563, St. Margaret's, Westminster, London. Some researchers have theorized that this John Inman arrived in VA aboard the Falcon in 1619 as a surgeon's mate. When he could not prove his passage in 1628, he was returned to England. His son, Edward, of the 8th Generation may have been in VA prior to his relocation to RI. During the 1640s, Gov. Berkeley of VA ousted religious nonconformants and dissenters from the state. Many of these people relocated to the NE.

According to the information I have from my uncle Elizabeth's maiden name was Russell. Her father was Benjamin Russell and her mother was Seine Campbell. Her grandfather was William Russell and he was born in Smartens Co., Virginia about 1714. His parents and his wife's parents came from Wales.

Elizabeth herself was born in Georgia. She was kin to the artist Charles Russell.

From my information Asa Inman's parents were considered "High Germans" being from north of Frankfurt, Germany. Asa's parents lived in Pennsylvania and then moved to South Carolina where he was born. Around 1810 he and Elizabeth moved back to Pennsylvania for a short time then moved to Indiana around 1838.

I am a unique addition to the Inman Compendium. My surname is YNMAN, which is a Spanish derivative of INMAN. My family lineage goes back to Mexican roots and then British roots prior to that. My ancestors are from England, like most Inman's. However, My great-grandfather moved to Mexico from England around the turn of the century to open a sugar factory in Central Mexico. This was only supposed to be a temporary move but he ended up staying and settling in Mexico, one of the few Inman's who did. He married a Mexican native and had several offspring of Anglo-Saxon and Mexican heritage. To reflect this heritage, Mr. Inman changed the spelling of his and all his brood's surname from INMAN to YNMAN. In the Spanish language, the "Y" is pronounced like an "I", hence it the pronounciation is the same but the spelling is altered in a Mexican-American variation. One of his sons moved up to the USA and settled here. My grandfather (his son), myself, and the Ynman clan here in the states is the result of this move. Today, we are all located in south central Texas primarily in San Antonio, Houston, and other cities and towns near there.

At this time I have no more proof than notes from my grandmothers research and family bible, Hannah INMAN, daughter of Joshua INMAN & Ann, is the same Hannah INMAN you have in the INMAN database marrying a ______BURTS.
However I believe it is the same :-)
The BURTZ name has taken on many different spellings depending on who may be transcribing the handwritten information, etc.
BURTS, BURTY, BUNTZ, to name a few.
Any help on this line would be greatly appreciated!
