This list represents plants that we know will grow well in Bell County, USDA Zone 8. These are the plants that we normally have in stock whenever they are available from our growers. If you don't live in the Central Texas area, some of these plants may not be suitable for your landscape. (But since plants don't read books, don't be afraid to try something new!)

We like to design landscapes with seasonal color and diversity, so the availability lists provide a quick reference guide for seasonal interest (keep in mind that the comments reflect our local growing conditions). For more detailed information on landscaping with natives, we recommend Native Texas Plants, Landscaping Region by Region 2nd Edition, by Sally and Andy Wasowski. This is an excellent reference for anyone who has an interest in using native plants, and it just became available again last year after having been out of print. If you are especially interested in the wildlife value of natives, refer to Texas Wildscapes, Gardening for Wildlife, published by Texas Parks and Wildlife Press. A native plant gardener's bookshelf would not be complete without Scott Ogden's Gardening Success with Difficult Soils, where you can learn about plants that can succeed in Texas soils and the ever-changing Texas climate.

In addition to the books, we recommend the following links:

We do not ship plants, but seed is available by mail order.

Select from the following menu by clicking on the topic. Some plant lists are still under construction, so please check back.

Not all plants are available year round, and there is very limited availability on some species. Stock fluctuates daily, especially during the spring peak. If you need plants in quantity for a landscape job, we will be happy to place an order for you. Please contact us and let us know if we can help you.
