St. Mary's Church Policies About Events and Announcements

When you ask the pastor for permission to schedule something at St. Mary's, it is understood that permission is granted on condition that the date has not already been reserved for another event. Events are scheduled on a first come, first served basis.

After Father says "yes", it's your responsibility to go to the parish office and ask the secretary to record your event in the master calendar that is kept in the parish office. If something has already been scheduled for that date, you will need to pick another date. If you do not record your event in the master calendar, the date will not be reserved for you.

Use of Parish Buildings:

• Parish organizations may use parish buildings for parish events without cost, with the pastor's approval.
• There is a fee for private events; these are subject to the approval of the pastor.
• When you schedule your event, include the time you will need to prepare the room and the time you will    need for clean-up so that the AC/heat will be programed to be on during that time.
• If you need keys, you will need to pick them up at the parish office during regular office hours.
• Please clean up, take down decorations, and put all tables and chairs back in place before you leave that    day. We don't have anyone on staff to clean up after events.

To Put a Notice in the Bulletin:

• Notices must be about parish or diocesan events or issues. Anything else must be cleared by the pastor.
• Please type or print your notice clearly and drop it by the parish office. Deadline: Tuesday.
• All notices are published on a first come, first served basis.
• We reseve the right to edit the notice to fit the space.

To Put an Insert (extra page) in the Bulletin:

• We have a limit of no more than three extra pages per week.
• Call the parish office to reserve the date of your insert. Scheduled on a first come, first served basis.
• You are responsible for having the inserts printed.
• Extra pages are hand-inserted on Friday afternoon. You must provide the volunteer labor to stuff your
inserts into the bulletin at that time.

To Make an announcement at Mass:

• Announcements must be about parish or diocesan events and issues.
• Type or print the annuncement clearly and drop it by the parish office.
• It will be read by the lector along with the rest of the announcements.
• If you wish to have a speaker address the parish, you need the pastor's permission.
• We will only schedule one speaker per Mass and only when there is genuine need. They are scheduled on    a first come, first served basis.
