How Does One Become a Catholic? One becomes a Catholic by receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion and by making a Profession of Faith. This combination of ceremonies are called collectively "the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults", or RCIA. Here at St. Mary's, this is cusomarily done once a year on the night before Easter, at the Easter Vigil Mass. Classes to prepare for this beautiful night are held weekly from September until Easter. Classes are taught by a variety of experienced speakers well-educated in the Catholic Faith. Speakers include local priests, deacons, religious and lay persons.
