Q: Why do you call your services "celebrations?"
A: Because we are celebrating what Jesus has done in our lives. He has done so much for us by dying on the cross for our wrong-doings, we can't help but remember that - and celebrate His resurrection from the dead and giving us eternal hope.
Q: What should I wear to Vineyard Sunday Celebrations?
A: Come as you are. Some people who come dress up and some wear casual clothes. We're more concerned about what's inside than what's outside.
Q: How are your celebrations conducted?
A: We start out before the service at the coffee bar and get a cup of coffee. The celebrations begin with a time of worship with upbeat and lively music (we don't have anything against the old hymns, we just don't sing them). Everyone is encouraged to stand up and sing along, but if you like you can sit and listen. After the worship time the announcements are read. After the announcements, Pastor Jim gives his message which is Bible-based, but culturally-current and practical to everyday life. After the service, leaders of the church are available to talk or pray with you if you like. The whole thing lasts between 60 and 90 minutes.
Q: Do I have to have everything "together" to join in the celebrations or visit the Vineyard?
A: No. None of us when we started had it 'all together' and none of us have it 'all together' now - we're all a 'work in process.' Jesus doesn't expect you to have it "all together" when you first meet Him. If we could get it 'all together' on our own, then we wouldn't need Jesus and wouldn't want to celebrate in the first place.
Q: How can I get involved in what's going on at the Vineyard?
A: The first thing to do is to visit one of our Sunday celebrations and get to know us. The second step is usually to attend one of the regularly scheduled Vineyard 101 classes and learn more of what we are all about. We encourage everyone to join a small group and establish relationships with the people who already call the Vineyard home. After that, it's up to you.
