On this page I will list a Chronology of events.  I will cross-link all events with the pertaining document when possible.

JANUARY 1, 1997  My oldest son, Preston comes to live in his new home.

JULY 25, 1997 Finalized adoption of Preston.  The same day, Willie is placed with me.   I was told my adoption worker felt I "Put the moon in the sky."

DECEMBER 1997 Me and my 2 children are interviewed by a news reporter, per my adoption workers request, for a Christmas adoption special.

MARCH 31, 1998 Complaint made with the Texas Department of Health concerning my children's home health agency, Nurses Plus, Inc..  The complaint was regarding Medicaid fraud, patient abuse, and medical negligence.

APRIL 1, 1998 Received a letter from Medicaid stating that their "records reflect that the father provides excellant care" to both of my children.

APRIL 2, 1998 On my son's 4th birthday, as a result of the home health agency "complaint" to Texas Child Protective Services, CPS begins an "investigation" which almost destroys the lives of 2 children forever.

APRIL 17, 1998 One week before I was to finalize on the adoption of my 4 year old, 15 days after the beginning of their "investigation" CPS removes both of my children from the only real home they have ever known pending a court hearing.

JUNE 1998 A hearing is held in district court.  4 witnesses and the CPS worker testify for the state in court.  2 of the witnesses testified they had no problem with me or my children.  The other 2 said I was a protective father and had done nothing to my children.  None of my 28 witnesses needed to testify, including myself.   We rested our case based soley on the testimony presented by the state.  The judge orders both children returned home.

Within days of my oldest son's return, after taking him to the doctor several times, my son was taken by ambulance from the doctor's office due to bleeding ulcers.  He needed 2 units of blood to save his life.  The doctor's say he would never have made it if I hadn't taken him in.  They credit me with saving his life.  I credit them.  And God.

bulletAfter our court hearing and my children returned, my name is placed on the state's child abuse registry making me unable to work as a pediatric nurse.
bullet5 months later an administrative review is held.  The department reversed all their "findings".
bulletA month later my name is taken off the state child abuse registry.

After calling every place I worked and informing them that my name was on the registry, CPS refused to call them back when it was taken off.

JANUARY 15, 1999  After 6 months of court ordered home "monitoring" CPS recommends the adoption of my youngest son and recommends their involvement in our lives be closed.

JULY 7, 2001 this website is created to share our experience with Child Protective Services-the response is overwhelming!
