CPS letter regarding Shirley

Up

Here is a letter from a level III CPS worker to the administrator of the nursing home regarding shirley.  This was BEFORE the pin-sol incident.  So, certainly the state should have had some concerns regarding this nurse who is entrusted to care for medically fragile children.  The CPS worker thought it was important enough to write a letter to the administrator of the nursing home and send carbon copies to everyone she did.

Now remember, this letter was written BY Child Protective Services.  It seems by the content of the letter that CPS is the one who is actually making the "complaint".  Consider the seriousness of the complaint.  CPS did not think this history mattered in our case.  They allowed Shirley (the SAME Shirley mentioned in the letter) to gather "complaints" through threats and coercion.   Again, this doesn't have anything to do with the later Pin-Sol incident (which I will go into detail later).  The pattern is chilling.  If she can't have your child, nobody can.

In gathering information in a child abuse investigation CPS has an obligation to find out what kind of people they are dealing with and what their motives are.  Remember, this agency also tried to sue me and several other nurses because we quit when a foster parent left their agency.  I will post the letter I received demanding $450,000.00 for LOST MEDICAID REVENUES from this nursing agency for continuing to work with this foster family with their new nursing agency.  Last I heard, people can work wherever they want.  The same nursing agency, prior to turning on the nurses, attempted to get me (and probably others) to make unfounded complaints of child abuse against the foster home.  I refused and that is why they sent me the letter.  Medicaid money belongs to the child, NOT Nurses Plus.  CPS does not think ANY of this information is important.  They never checked the background of ANY of these people, or took any steps to see if what I was telling them was true.  In fact, as you will later see, CPS said they take their complaints at "face value".

Doesn't the state have an obligation to these children?  When you have someone who you well know has a long history of retaliating against people by hurting children then doesn't CPS have an obligation to protect the community from allowing this to happen?

How many other instances has this happened and nobody knows about it?  How many times has she done this and not been caught?  How many times does it has to happened before they do something?  How many children must be hurt before something is done?

The CPS investigator was made aware at the onset of the investigation into me and my children about the background of Shirley.  They called me a liar and said it didn't matter what anyone's background was as they were only investigating me.  Shouldn't this letter have mattered??

CPS should have considered Shirley's past and how she uses her influence to harass and hurt anyone who stands in her way.  They should have considered that all these documented instances involve children.  Specifically, abusing children to hurt the caregivers.

In the future, I will be adding a letter from a foster parent (deintentified) regarding Shirley trying to get the home shut down.

Now, here is the problem...  And it is a serious problem that I made aware to the state when I made a formal complaint against Nurses Plus,  Fear of retaliation.  I am aware that numerous clients were in fear of leaving this agency for fear of retaliation.   Most of them were afraid to leave, muchless make a complaint.  I did, and look what happened.  But, I would do it again.  I would do anything to protect my children, even if it places myself at risk of retaliation.

Nurses Plus, you must understand, was the largest home health care provider in our area.  They got to be the largest for a reason.  First, they would use their influence with a medical supplier that Shirley was best friends with to make client contacts.  She would be provided names of children and what their medical conditions were.  In otherwords, the supplier, based on how many supplies a child needed would supply that information to Nurses Plus so they could sign them on.  How much did the supplier make for these referrals?  We may never know.  The other reason that Nurses Plus was the largest agency, was for the reasons I stated before...  FEAR.   Even nurses were afraid to go to another home health agency for fear of retaliation.  They would be threatened and intimidated if they do so.  To do that would be to place your nursing license on the line due to trumped up charges.   So, most would end up changing their specialty and would work in the hospital or the nursing home as that was not a competition or threat to Nurses Plus.

Now that Nurses Plus is out of business, what is Shirley's next position?  Is she in a position to hurt people?  It wasn't hard at all to find witnesses to testify against Shirley.  The hardest part was trying to prioritize them so we wouldn't have to waste more money than was necessary.  If I had deeper pockets, how many more people could have been subpoenaed?

I have to agree with this CPS worker that "emotional attachment is no excuse for deliberately harming a child".  If fact, there is NO excuse for that all!
