In the course of our lives we experience events that defy any understanding.  Things happen that no matter how hard we try we can never hope to make sense of them.  People do things and we never know why.  There are some things that only God can understand.  I don't think God ever "makes" things happen.  But, I do believe that God "allows" things to happen.   Everything happens for a reason.

"For many are called, but few are chosen."  Matthew 22:14

God gives us a purpose in this life.  It is written in the book of life before we're even thought of.  Whether we live up to His plan, is up to each of us.  I have chosen to follow my heart.   I have given my life to doing his will the best way I know how.  That is nothing compared to the gifts he has given me.

I have had the unique experience of seeing our Child Protection system from many different sides.  As a supervisor in a shelter for abused women and children, as a Pediatric nurse working in many different foster homes, as an adoptive parent who's adoption worker described as "putting the moon in the sky" and as someone who's family has been badly hurt by Child Protective Services.   I have seen our foster care system up close.  Unfortunately, so have my children.

Over the next couple of weeks I will post the true story of how my fight against a home health agency (Nurses Plus, Inc.) for Medicaid fraud turned into a fight to protect my children from abuse at the hands of the state.  The names are not important.   What is important are the facts of the case and the volumes of documents supporting the facts in this case.

Two innocent children were caught in the cross-fire of a bitter custody dispute because the state (Child Protective Services) refused to accept facts.  They refused to consider what was in the best interest of 2 children who were unable to speak for themselves.  Two children's lives were almost destroyed forever as a result.

My children had something going for them.  God was on their side.  The doctors were on their side.  Law enforcement was on their side.   Neighbors were on their side.  The courts were on their side.

Both of my children had spent their entire lives in foster care until I got them.  They are the state's unwanted children.  They are on the very bottom of the adoption scale.  Many people had inquired about adopting them, but, quickly backed out when they found out what condition my children were in.  I saw hope in my children.  I feel that love and God can conquer all.

My children are my life.  My whole world revolves around them.   They are the center of my universe.  I believe they would say the same about me.  When they were placed with me was the first time, in my opinion, that they had ever been treated like human beings and not just an object.  They are now loved by many, many people.
