Here are some excerpts from Willie's last adoption readiness report dated less than a month before I got him. Everything about his behavior was true. When you read this, consider this... how many people would be willing or able to adopt a child who had the significant problems he had at that time. As I said, he is a totally different child today. He was a totally different kid when they took him, which is one reason I feel they fought so hard for him. Now that most of his problems had diminished or gone away entirely it made him more of an issue in my opinion. He was punished for thriving. He was punished for having a family who finally loved and cared about him. I will post many more reports on his improvements. Can the state really believe that a child can come so far in an abusive environment?
There you have it. A child who obviously had significant medical, emotional and psychological problems. His future was doubtful. Nobody seemed to see any potential in him. It has taken a lot of effort, but, there is no resemblence to the child I now have. CPS said none of that mattered. They took him from the only home he was ever loved. Why? |
